Las Vegas Raiders are now at a thrilling crossroads in the 2024 NFL, with rumors of probably trading away the star wide receiver Davante Adams. Raiders initially seemed adamant about keeping the 3x All-Pro receiver to themselves; however, recent things happening around suggest an about-turn. Maybe Pierce is just adding gasoline to the fire to start conversations about the Raiders making a trade with the former first-overall pick; many fans and media members believed Pierce’s modest acknowledgment should lead to rumors that a trade involving Adams is in the works.
The Raiders’ season hasn’t shown much promise since head coach Antonio Pierce guided the team to a lackluster 1-3 start. As a result, the unlikely triumph over the Cleveland Browns has raised expectations to an unprecedented degree and increased scrutiny. Following a mixed bag of a season in which Pierce started the season with Gardner Minshew as his starting quarterback, things have gotten worse for the team and worse for Adams, who appears to be receiving some support in a post urging a trade following Pierce’s seemingly innocuous action of hitting “like” on a post.
The Raiders’ stance on trading star wide receiver Davante Adams has softened, says Raider’s insider Vincent Bonsignore. Bonsignore wrote: Raiders are slowly becoming more open to trading Davante Adams. Several sources confirm that the club has begun calling teams to gauge interest in the veteran wide receiver.
This is a significant departure from where things stood at the start of the year when the Raiders appeared to be unwilling to budge on trading Adams, even after receiving overtures from other NFL clubs. According to additional trade rumors circulating from NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Adams was the one who requested a trade. The Raiders were initially uneasy about these offers, but Adams is now eager to leave Las Vegas and look for a new start somewhere.
Here’s what Adams had to say about Antonio Pierce’s most recent incident, having timed his trade request in light of growing displeasure over the team’s apparent lack of direction despite Pierce’s strong on-field performance.
Adams has never been one to back down from rumors and the like, and reports from earlier today suggest that he spoke about the scandals and rumors involving himself and others on the Up and Adams Show. In response to a host’s inquiry about some of Pierce’s social media behavior that appears to advocate trading him, he said the following:
I haven’t heard from him. I haven’t talked to him. I don’t really know what that’s about. Social media is a beast. A lot of people saw it, wondering what was going on, and people reached out. But I haven’t spoken to him. There was no text or anything via other means with the team.
It’s kind of hard to comment on. I’m sure you would imagine as such, but it’s one of those situations where I put my head down and keep doing my thing and let the chips fall where they may as it pertains to that. There’s been no communication with anyone from the team since it became a thing. But it’s become a weekly What’s up with Tae thing. It’s always some sort of drama, the 31-year-old American added.
This time, his comments reflect a deeper level of annoyance than their appalling performances for the Raiders and the circulating rumors, all without any comment from the team’s leadership. It’s hardly surprising that NFL insiders have been making fairly accurate predictions about what it will take to trade for veteran receiver Adams. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, there were trade inquiries for Adams, but the Las Vegas Raiders had no intention of trading him.
