Women’s T20i Rankings: Shafali Verma loses top spot


Australian women raised the T20 2020 World Cup, on Sunday 8th March, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground Australia. The Australian women set a chase of 184-4 in 20 overs, but Indian women fell 99 all out in 19.1 overs.

Australia opened the 2020 World Cup match with Alyssa Healy, who scored 79 runs and Beth Mooney brought 78 runs for the team, this, in turn, escalated the batswomen up in the 2020 ICC ranking table. Mooney replaced Verma for the top position and sat 1st in the chart with 762 points, whereas, Verma who left the finals with 2(3) runs, fell into 3rd place with 744 points. Healy has climbed spots to 5th with 714 points, and New Zealand batswoman Suzie Bates retained the 2nd place with 750 points. Meg Lanning and Mandhana fell to 6th and 7th, but Harmanpreet Kaur and Krishnamurthy stayed in 12th and 55th place.

The Australian women bowlers Megan Schutt picked 4 of Indian batswomen, 3 were removed by Jess Jonassen in the T20 finals. In the ICC rankings, Schutt maintained the 2nd place with 763 points, Jonassen climbed to 5th with 728 points by sending Deepti Sharma to 6th. Indian bowlers took massive picks in the T20 games and upheld the 7th and 8th place as Radha Yadav, Poonam Yadav, and then at 27th Shikha Pandey. Sharma raised to 5th place in the all-rounder table with 302 points.
