Mohammad Kaif blasts Rohit & Co for their complacency leading to a shocking defeat

Team India suffered a shocking defeat against Bangladesh in the first ODI in Dhaka. Indian batters tumbled down against Bangladesh bowling attack led by Shakib al Hasan. In response, Indian bowlers did well to keep things tight and reduced the hosts to 136/9 in 39.3 overs. But Men in blue looked very complacent and displayed no urgency to finish the game, thinking they would win it easily.

Many former Indian cricketers blamed India’s poor fielding for the loss. KL Rahul and Washington Sundar had the opportunity to wrap up the contest, but both failed to do so. Rahul dropped an easy one while Sundar did not even attempt to take the catch. Mohammad Kaif posed a strong question, which he felt cost India the match.

Kaif admitted it was India’s game as the pacers produced an excellent performance to get India back into the game. But in the last 10 overs, who is our death bowler? Is it Deepak Chahar or Kuldeep Sen? noted Kaif during the discussion.

The former cricketer expressed India’s bowling was not good at the end and they failed to bowl at the right lengths. The young bowlers crumbled under pressure and made mistakes by bowling more wide balls, also offering more width.

Kaif urged that India needs good speed at the death and the lack of pace haunted the visitors. India played very poor cricket as none bothered when Bangladesh got easy ones and twos. India would eye to beat Bangladesh in the second ODI on December 7, to stay alive in the series.
