In the very first over of the innings, young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal (0) was dismissed by Trent Boult while captain Steve Smith (6) lost his wicket the next over. All hopes were placed on RR’s star batsman Sanju Samson, but he returned to the pavilion without scoring runs. Butler held on to one end and went on to score a half-century.
