ICC T20 WORLD CUP: India crushed Namibia in their final Super-12 game


India beat Namibia by 9 wickets at Dubai International Stadium. India ended theirT20 World cup campaign on a high winning note. Virat Kohli won his last T20 match as a skipper. Chasing a target of 133, Indian openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma gave a flying start to their side. Both scored half-centuries and helped India to reach the target with ease.

After being put into the bat first, Namibia openers Baard and Van Lingen gave a good start to their side by scoring 30 runs in 4 overs. Jasprit Bumrah provided the breakthrough by dismissing Lingen (14). Indian Skipper Virat Kohli introduced Ravindra Jadeja in the 6th over to scalp more wickets. Jadeja did the job by dismissing Williams for a duck. In his next over, Jadeja trapped Baard’s leg before for 21 runs.

Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin run through the Namibia batting lineup and took wickets at regular intervals. Wiese took the responsibility and batted brilliantly for his 26 runs. Frylinck (15) and Trumpelmann (13) contributed useful runs and helped their team to reach a decent score of 132 in 20 overs.

Indian openers dominated the Namibia bowling attack and rained boundaries. Both registered yet another 50 runs stand in 6 overs. A few moments later, Rohit Sharma brought up his 24th T20I 50 off just 31 balls. Finally, Frylinck bagged Sharma for 56 runs. Surya Kumar Yadav came up the order and scored 25 runs. KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 54 with a strike rate of 150. Ravindra Jadeja won the player of the match award for his performance with the ball.
