Coronavirus: Yuvraj Singh Contributes Rs 50 Lakh In Fight Against COVID-19 Pandemic

Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian cricket all-rounder, and the middle-order batsman, who also raised the 2011 World Cup for the country, had updated a tweet on the player’s page to join the 9 minutes 9pm campaign on 5th April 2020. The Prime Minister of India had requested the citizens to light Diya, or candle on 5th April for nine minutes at 9pm in the pandemic crisis to fight the darkness in the country.

The cricketer has posted a message supporting the campaign and had donated rupees 50 lakhs at PM-CARES Funds. Singh’s tweet quoted that “We are stronger when we stand united. I will be lighting a candle tonight at 9pm for 9 minutes. Are you with me? On this great day of solidarity, I pledge Rs 50 Lakhs to the #PMCaresFunds. Please do your bit too! @narendramodi#9pm9minutes #IndiaFightsCorona.”

Some of the Indian sports players had begun contributing to the COVID-19 fight, to their state governments, starting with Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and few others from fellow sports like PV Sindhu, Mary Kom, etc. had donated to lift from the crisis. PM Modi, had established a system named Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation Funds to help revive the country, the campaign follows after Janata Curfew and applause for the doctors in India at 5pm on 22nd March 2020. The COVID-19 count in India has recorded 4,067 cases, 109 deaths, and 292 recoveries.
