Indian top-order batter Cheteshwar Pujara admitted that this could be India’s chance to win the maiden Test series in South Africa. Pujara backed the Indian seamers to be the point of difference between the two teams and they could pick up 20 wickets in every Test on the tour. Pujara added that the Indian fast bowlers have been the difference whenever they have played abroad.
Earlier, at the Australia series and the England series, India has done exceptionally well as a bowling unit. Pujara feels the same will be the case even in South Africa for sure. The right-handed batsman admitted that fast bowlers are their strength. He hopes that the pacers will be able to utilize the tricky South African conditions and give us 20 wickets in every Test match.
Team India is fresh from home series success against the Kiwis and Pujara feels this is the best opportunity for Men in blue to clinch the series in South Africa. The Proteas has not played any red-ball cricket since June 2021. Pujara expressed that India had played a couple of test matches which is a positive sign to play with more confidence.
Most of the players are in good touch to deliver well. Pujara admitted that the supporting staff has been excellent and supporting well in preparation. Pujara ended up that all players are looking forward to play and win the series. Though staying in bio-bubbles puts certain restrictions, it allows players to spend more time together.
Meanwhile, Indian opener KL Rahul was named as the vice-captain for India. This is India’s eighth test tour to South Africa. The three-match series begins on 26th December with the Boxing Day Test in Centurion.
