Royal Challengers Bangalore thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders and registered victory by 82 runs. This is RCB’s fifth win in the tournament. Chasing a target of 195 runs, KKR’s team could only manage 112 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. The bowlers played a significant role in RCB’s victory as Chris Morris took 2 for 17 in 4 overs and Washington Sundar took wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs. AB de Villiers scored 73 runs off 33 balls.
This is Bangalore’s biggest win against Kolkata in terms of runs. RCB had defeated KKR by 10 runs last year. Shubman Gill scored the most runs in the match for Kolkata as he scored 32 runs. Andre Russell and Rahul Tripathi scored 16 runs each. Apart from these three, no batsman could touch the figure of ten. Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini, Mohammad Siraj and Isuru Udana each took a wicket for RCB.
Earlier RCB scored 194 runs for 2 wickets. AB de Villiers played an explosive innings in which he hit 5 fours and 6 sixes. He battered KKR’s Kamlesh Nagerkoti, Pat Cummins, Andre Russell and Krishna during the batting. He also shared a 100-run partnership for the third wicket with captain Virat Kohli. Kohli scored 33 runs off 28 balls. During this innings, Kohli and de Villiers also set a unique record together. The duo has now completed a partnership of over 3000 runs.
