Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets at Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday. Royal Challengers extended their winning run after registering a comfortable win against the Royals. All-rounder Glenn Maxwell played brilliant shots to reach his fifty and remained at the crease to take RCB home. RCB chased the target of 150 with 17 balls to spare.
RCB skipper Virat Kohli decided to bowl after winning the toss. Royal’s openers Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a good start to their team by scoring 77 runs in 8 overs. Dan Christian gave the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Jaiswal for 31. A few moments later, Lewis lost his wicket to Garton after scoring an impressive 58. RCB bowlers found their rhythm and took wickets frequently to restrict Rajasthan Royals for 149/9 in 20 overs.
RR Captain Sanju Samson failed to score big and went back for 19 runs. Royals failed to take on the momentum and lost 8 for 49 in the last 9 overs. The purple-cap holder, Harshal Patel was the star for RCB with the ball and bagged three wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal and Shahbaz Ahmed picked up two wickets each.
Chasing a target of 150, Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal gave a quick start to RCB. Mustafizur Rahman cleaned bowled Padikkal for 22 runs. Riyan Parag was good in the field and made a finethrow to run out Kohli. RCB middle-order batsmen Srikar Bharat and Maxwell stood for a solid partnership and scored runs freely. After Bharat was gone, Maxwell exploded and finished off things in style. Maxwell smashed six fours and a six in his knock.
