T20 World Cup: BCCI asks IPL Stars to stay back in Dubai


The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on 17th October in Oman. The T20 World Cup will kick off just a couple of days after the 2021 IPL finals. Virat Kohli will be leading the Indian team for the last time in T20 format. India has not won any ICC tournament trophy under Kohli’s Captaincy. “Everyone hopes that Kohli wish must break this geology in his final tournament as Captain of Indian Side.

Reports say that BCCI has asked the top-class performers of 2021 IPL to stay along with the Indian team and assist them in the nets. The selectors from BCCI have selected the Purple-cap holder Harshal Patel, KKR Opener Venkatesh Iyer, Delhi Capitals pacer Avesh Khan and SRH pace sensation Umran Malik to stay back in UAE, and give support to the Indian players.

BCCI has asked the players to join with the Indian team after the IPL play-offs is over. Players will find it easy to more from one bubble to the another. The above said pacers will support the world cup squad as net bowlers. All three are brilliant bowlers with good pace and variations. Malik bowled the fastest delivery in the IPL history this season.

If the team management feels good, any of these players can be upgraded and play in the playing xi. Opener cum Seam bowler Venkatesh Iyer has been identified as a cover for Hardik Pandya. Pandya is still not fit enough to bowl.

The ICC has extended the squad finalizing deadline until 15th October. This means the teams in the super-12 stage can change the squad upto 7 days before their match. So the Indian team management can make changes if necessary.

Either Shardul Thakur or Deepak Chahar can be included in the team since there are concerns over the fitness of Hardik Pandya India will open their world Cup Campaign on 24th October the arch-rival Pakistan.
