Rohit Sharma’s power-hitting helped India beat Afghanistan in a two Super Over entertainer

It was full of drama and entertainment on Wednesday night as the fans witnessed two Super Overs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The third and final T20I was an incredible game and after two back-to-back Super Over, Men in Blue won the game by 10 runs to whitewash 3-0 Afghanistan. India’s captain Rohit was the hero of the night, hitting a four and a six in the second super over to reach 12/2. Ravi Bishnoi struck twice in consecutive deliveries to secure the win for India.

Earlier, batting first, the hosts failed to have a good start as Afghan pacer Fareed Ahmad ran through the Indian top order. The left-arm pacer gave India a double blow in the 3rd over, dismissing in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal for just 4 and star batter Virat Kohli for a golden duck. Azmatullah Omarzai got rid of the big man Shivam Dube in the very next over. Ahmad then sent off Sanju Samson for a golden duck to put India under huge pressure.

Although wickets kept falling at one end, Rohit scored runs at the other end with ease. Once settled, Rohit alongside Rinku Singh hammered away the Afghan bowlers and rained boundaries. In the 19th over, Rohit hit a fine boundary to bring his 5th T20I century. Rinku, on the other side, reached his half-century. Rohit (121) smashed four and two sixes while Rinku (69) blasted a hat-trick of sixes in the final over, powering India to reach 212/4 in 20 overs.

Afghan’s chase got off to a fine start as its openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran added 93 runs for the opening wicket. Kuldeep Yadav gave India the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Gurbaz (50). Washington Sundar then dismissed Zadran (50) and Omarzai (0) in consecutive deliveries to put the visitors on the back foot. But Mohammad Nabi played a superb cameo of 34 to keep his side alive in the hunt. When everyone thought India would win the game, Gulbadin Naib stood tall and played a brilliant knock of unbeaten 55 off 23 balls to draw the game.
