Rohit Sharma-led men eye for a comeback in the second Test against England

Team India is ready to take on England in the second Test, starting today (February 2) in Visakhapatnam. Rohit Sharma-led men eye for a strong comeback to level the series 1-1. Many cricket experts and fans feel that Indian players will win the second Test as they are known for their ability to bounce back after an early defeat. Losing the first Test of a series has brought out the best in the Indian squad. India won the 2020/21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the 2021 series against England after trailing 0-1.

India will compete without the seasoned three of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja. Instead, domestic cricket sensations Sarfaraz Khan, Rajat Patidar, and Saurabh Kumar will compete for slots in the playing XI. Following outstanding results in first-class cricket, all of these young talents will need to prove their value to the selectors.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal performed admirably in the first Test, it will be crucial for them to contribute significantly more. No.3 batter Shubman Gill, who has had a string of poor performances in recent Tests, has to perform well and show the cricketing world that he is best in the longest format too. Shreyas Iyer also faces a steep challenge after failing to deliver well in the first Test.

Kuldeep Yadav is expected to replace Jadeja in the squad as India will be aiming to play spin as a potential weapon against Ben Stokes-led side. Kuldeep is expected to play a crucial along with senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. These two spinners would get good support from Axar Patel, who has wicket-taking ability. With three spinners in England’s playing XI, it is very clear that spinners from both sides are expected to take center stage yet again.
