Michael Holding: BCCI has every right to host the IPL if there is no T20


Last week the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) said in a press meet that it is offering BCCI to host the 13th season of IPL in Dubai if Indian cricket board is planning to conduct the tournament overseas. Now West Indian legend Michael Holding has come in support of BCCI regarding to host the current season of IPL. In an Instagram live session video Michael Holding said if IPL is not being a barrier to other international cricketing events then they have every right to host the tournament. The biggest event in cricket this year is the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup tournament was scheduled to begin in Australia from October but due to the Coronavirus global pandemic ICC planned to reconsider the possibility of hosting the tournament. Holding also said that BCCI has every right to move ahead with the plan to host the IPL even if T20 World Cup is called off this year.

The ICC board will meet on June 10 to decide on the certainty of hosting the T20 World Cup this year. BCCI have also not made any decision regarding this year’s IPL since it was postponed indefinitely two months ago. ICC’s decision will also decide the course for IPL 2020, but there are speculations that ICC might make room for IPL since Australia government has not decided any dates to open its door for any visitors yet. With dark clouds looming over fans of the sport around the world are eagerly waiting for the decision of ICC on the fate of the T20 World Cup.
