A sensational game-changing bowling effort from premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah powered India to beat South Africa in the second Test. Bumrah finished with bowling figures of 6/61 in 13.5 overs. India won the shortest completed Test match in the history of cricket to level the two-match series 1-1. Rohit Sharma-led men played well to register their first-ever Test win at Cape Town. India chased the target of 79 with ease and thrashed the hosts by 7 wickets. Men in Blue will now shift their focus to the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, starting January 11.

India started Day 2 well as Bumrah got an early wicket in the very first over, dismissing David Bedingham for 11. Moments later, Bumrah got the better of Kyle Verreynne (9) and sent him back to the dressing room. In his next over, Bumrah reacted well and took a stunner to send off Marco Jansen (11). Kesh Maharaj did not last long and departed for 3.

Although wickets kept falling at one end, Aiden Markram held the Proteas’ innings with a brilliant batting effort. However, just when the match was in India’s control, KL Rahul dropped Markram on 37 which made the opener take an ultra-aggressive approach. He smashed Prasidh Krishna all over the park in the very next over to register a blistering century on a tough pitch. Markram departed after a scintillating knock of 106 and helped the Proteas to reach 176.

India’s chase got off to a steady start as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma added 44 runs for the opening wicket. Nandre Burger drew the first blood, dismissing Jaiswal for 28. Shubman Gill (10) and Virat Kohli (12) fell in quick succession. However, Rohit (17) and Shreyas Iyer (4) remained unbeaten to take India home.
