A grand finish to a blockbuster contest as Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan combined for a breathtaking finish for Gujarat Titans against Sunrisers Hyderabad. GT overhauled the target of 196 in 20 overs with five wickets to spare and climbed back to the top of the IPL 2022 standings. Needing 23-runs to win off the final over, GT Titans finished with 25-runs for a thrilling last-ball win over SRH.
Rashid smashed three sixes on the final over and remained unbeaten on 31 while Tewatia played a cameo of 40-runs off 21-balls. Umran Malik’s sensational five-wicket haul went in vain as this pair stole the game with pure power-hitting. Earlier, Wriddhiman Saha was the star of the show for GT with the bat, scoring 68 off 38 balls. But he was one of four batters, who were bowled out by Umran.
After being invited to bat first, SRH had a slow start as Mohammed Shami dismissed Kane Williamson (5) and Rahul Tripathi (16) to reduce them to 44/2 in 5 overs. However, Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram’s 96-run stand gave an excellent platform for SRH to score big. A fiery finish from Shashank Singh (25*) helped SRH to put up a total of 195/6 on board.
Marco Jansen, who bowled brilliantly against RCB in the last match, failed to defend 23-runs in the final over. It all boiled down to the final delivery off which GT needed 3-runs to win. Rashid pulled it away over fine leg for a six to finish it off in style.
