India will face arch-rivals Pakistan on October 6 in the Women’s T20 World Cup

India will play their arch-rivals Pakistan on October 6 as per the revised schedule of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, which was released by the ICC on Monday. The global tournament gets underway on October 3. After several players voiced worries about security owing to the ongoing political upheaval, the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to move the worldwide competition—which was originally set to take place in Bangladesh—out of the nation.

There are only two venues for the tournament, Dubai and Sharjah, which will hold 23 matches altogether. The groups are still the same, with defending champion Australia clubbed alongside India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka in Group A. Bangladesh, England, South Africa, Scotland, and the West Indies makeup Group B.

The competition will see each side play four group matches. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals, which will take place on October 17 and 18, before the final in Dubai on October 20. A reserve day has been scheduled for both the semi-finals and final. India will take on the Black Caps on October 4.

India’s third match will be against Sri Lanka on October 9 while they will face the Aussies in their final group match on October 13. Women in Blue will play in the first semi-final if they advance. Through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier event that took place in Abu Dhabi earlier this year, Sri Lanka and Scotland were able to advance to the tournament. Ten warm-up matches will be played before the tournament from September 28 to October 1.
