India defeat Australia at Adelaide Oval again

India starts off their test series down under with a win again at Adelaide Oval. This was just the 6th Indian victory on the Australian shores and the first in the first test match of a series. That wasn’t the only record that tumbled during the game. As Virat Kohli became the first Indian captain to win in Australia, England, and South Africa.
At the start of Day-4, India looked comfortable after Ishant Sharma dismissed Travis Head early with a well-directed bouncer. Soon Shaun Marshal got his fifty (First 4th innings fifty by him) and cricket best odds swung in India’s favor as he was nicked behind by Bumrah. With the tail batting in the middle, many predicted the match would be over before tea and that looked evident after the Australian captain Paine got out.
But the Aussies tail wagged trying to win the match and defy cricket betting tips. Pat Cummins and Starc had a 41 runs partnership which brought some life back in the game but the Aussies were quickly reduced to 259/9 and with Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazelwood on the crease, the match was all down to a single mistake. But both the tail-ender batted superbly especially Nathan Lyon who was not out in both innings and his 38 runs made the match more thrilling. But an exhaustive Ashwin who bowled almost 30 overs in two section produced an edge from Hazelwood and India won by 31 runs.
The match was a tug of war with each team pulling back after a certain period. But it had it all, with excellent fielding, superb batting, and disciplined bowling. We also saw decision reversed via DRS, Batsman getting out on No balls, Aussies not using their DRS (Pujara caught behind in the first innings, Finch dismissal in second innings). It was all happening at the Adelaide Oval. Pujara was awarded the man of the match for his brilliance in both the innings (123 & 71).
If anything, the test match signals a thrilling series ahead with both sides gaining confidence from their performance. As India won without the contribution of Kohli, the cricket betting tips are certainly in their favor on a bouncy Perth pitch. But we all have to wait till 14th Dec to see it ourselves.
