Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has heaped praise on Bhuvneshwar Kumar, saying that the pacer will be a huge plus for the Indian team in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Bhuvneshwar was the only standout performer for India in their four-wicket defeat to the Proteas in the second T20I. The right-arm seamer was spectacular in the second T20I, returning with figures of 4/13 in his four overs. Bhuvneshwar has made the opportunities count against South Africa in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami.
Gavaskar admitted that he was brilliant with his bowling. The white ball does not swing that much in the air or off the surface, but he has got the capability to deliver well. Lauding the efforts of the pacer, the legendary cricketer stated that to have someone like him in Australia, where there will be a little bit more bounce and carry, will be a huge plus for men in blue.
Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith was also effusive in his praise for the Indian pacer. The 41-year-old expressed that Bhuvneshwar displayed great skill to knock over Reeza Hendricks and Dwaine Pretorius. The 32-year-old pacer bowled a perfect in-swinger to bowl out Hendricks. He then got the better of Pretorius with a knuckleball.
Bhuvneshwar had brilliant control and his execution was phenomenal. Bhuvneshwar became the third-highest wicket-taker for India in T20I with 63 scalps. The fast bowler will hope to continue with his prime form as India looks to bounce back in the third T20I today in Visakhapatnam.
