Golf has been one of the most exciting sports in the world and Tiger Woods remains one of the most decorated golfers of all time. Woods has been the face of golf for several years but some other players have also had their moments in the sport. Woods was at the top of the rankings for 281 weeks consecutively, a record which would be very hard to break.

Tiger Woods dismissed rumors of his retirement ahead of the Genesis Invitational 2024. The experienced golfer will return to action for the tournament after a two-month layoff. A series of ailments have hampered his performance in recent years, generating speculation that he may retire. However, his most recent words reflect his thoughts about his future.

Woods stated that his ankle no longer hurts and that his bones were in better condition. He explained that his back is “fused,” thus the bearing is on the other parts. Regarding his enthusiasm for the game, he stated that he still enjoys competing and being a part of it. He referred to it as a “lifetime” game.

My ankle doesn’t hurt anymore because the bones aren’t rubbing anymore, Wood admitted. But then again, it’s different than other parts of my body, (Which) have to take the brunt of it. Just like my back is fused. And so other parts of my body have taken the brunt over that. And I have two different body parts that are now fused. Other parts of the body have to adapt. As far as the love, I still love competing, I love playing, and I love being a part of the game of golf This is a game of a lifetime, the American golfer expressed.

The 48-year-old golfer stated that he does not intend to stop playing anytime soon. The Genesis Invitational will mark Woods’ first official PGA Tour event since the Masters in 2023. Last year, he pulled out of the major tournament due to an ankle injury.

I never want to stop playing. I adore competing and listening to conversations from different eras. And, for example, being able to play with two great players today, the cross-pollination that occurs between other sports and this game, I enjoy that. I enjoy having it and never want to lose it, Woods concluded.
