Atlanta Hawks stage an incredible comeback to beat the Celtics

Dejounte Murray produced a dramatic comeback for the Atlanta Hawks on Monday, guiding them to a 120-118 victory over the Boston Celtics. American shooting guard Murray’s all-around performance, which included 19 points and an amazing 15 assists, helped the team overcome a large 30-point deficit. With only one minute left, Murray clinched the deal with a clutch basket, putting the Hawks ahead. De’Andre Hunter responded with a clutch 3-pointer, extending Atlanta’s advantage to four points with barely 10 seconds remaining. Although Jayson Tatum scored on a tip-in for Boston with one second left, it was insufficient to derail Atlanta’s comeback triumph, as they effectively ran out the clock following a timeout.

According to the reports, the Hawks’ win was historic since it was only the ninth occasion in NBA history that a club came back from a 30-point hole to claim a memorable win. Boston, on the other hand, saw their remarkable nine-game winning streak end, missing out on the chance to secure the Eastern Conference’s top seed.

Atlanta’s comeback was fueled by a never-ending effort as they rallied from a huge hole against the powerful Celtics. Trailing 68-38 in the second quarter, the Hawks went on an 18-6 run to cut the deficit to 74-56 at halftime. Building on their momentum, they proceeded to chip away at Boston’s lead, twice cutting it to three points in the third quarter. In the end, the Hawks’ success was the result of a team effort. De’Andre Hunter led the squad with 24 points, and Bogdan Bogdanovic added 22. Vit Krejci also had a huge impact, matching his career-best of 16 points, including four clutch 3-pointers.

Despite a brave effort by Boston, spearheaded by Jayson Tatum’s outstanding 37 points and eight rebounds, as well as contributions from Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis, the Celtics were unable to match Atlanta’s incredible comeback. Boston started the game strong, taking advantage of Atlanta’s depleted roster. In the first quarter, the Celtics shot an amazing 66.7 percent from the field, building a dominating 44-22 lead, the most points the Hawks have allowed in a first quarter this season.

Trae Young, Jalen Johnson, Saddiq Bey, and backup center Onyeka Okongwu were among the Hawks’ missing starters. Despite the odds, Atlanta’s tenacity and resolve enabled one of the most dramatic comebacks in recent NBA history. Hawks will play the Portland Trail Blazers in tomorrow’s (March 28) game starting at 5 AM in State Farm Arena.
