Reigning champion Max Verstappen opens up about the future of Formula 1

Max Verstappen won his third consecutive Formula One points championship a few weeks ago in Qatar. The Dutchman became a member of an exclusive club on October 22 when he won his 50th career Formula One race. Verstappen is the fifth driver in Formula One history to have 50 victories. With four races remaining, he might actually overtake Alain Prost (51) and Sebastian Vettel (53) this season. Verstappen opened up about his third consecutive Formula One championship, the future of F1, and his team’s partnership with ExxonMobil.

Wishing for more. Of course, we’ve had an amazing season, but even after winning the championship, we want to keep winning. That desire is shared by the entire team, not just me. Of course, I never imagined I’d win 50 races. But in this sport, a lot of factors must come together to get to that stage. I’m hoping to win more games with the team we’re in right now. I don’t want to set a specific number, though. All I want to do is go with the flow, Verstappen expressed.

Driving down the Las Vegas Strip will be insane, in my opinion. Of course, F1 has gone to Vegas before, but driving down the strip will be spectacular. I anticipate a very busy weekend. Many individuals will desire to take part in that experience. After all, we’re there to perform and make the most of it, but I think this event will look extremely fantastic at night, the 26-year-old driver added.

I think it comes from a young age. My dad and I were preparing like this from back then. I have the mindset that I get upset with myself if I feel like I didn’t give it 100 percent. Even after winning a championship, I can’t just sit back and relax. I want to get the best out of myself in every race. That’s how I go about things. I will try to stay in this sport until the moment I wake up, look in the mirror, and say I can’t give it 100 percent anymore. Hopefully, that lasts for at least a couple more years, Verstappen stated.

We are almost driving on every single continent except Africa. I’d like to see a race there. It’d be difficult to see where that would be, but that would be great in my opinion, Verstappen concluded. Formula One will return this Sunday with the Mexico City Grand Prix.
