The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) dominance in the IPL isn’t solely attributed to MS Dhoni’s captaincy or the relaxed demeanor of its players. According to CSK’s bowling coach Dwayne Bravo, the team’s steady success is due to minimal external intervention. Undoubtedly, Chennai Super Kings are the pinnacle of consistency in the Indian Premier League (IPL), having made the most playoff appearances and won the title five times.
There is no outside interference or pressure from owners, and they allow the players to be themselves. This is the beauty of this franchise, Bravo admitted in his recent interaction with the reporters. When asked about the team’s composition the West Indian all-rounder said it’s good. We have a very good squad and we want to continue from where we left off last season.
We did some great things with a very young bowling attack. This year, we get back Shardul Thakur, who can also bat well and that will be a bonus. We have also got Fizz, Mustafizur Rahman, who is well experienced and has quality in his bowling attack. Pathirana, we call him baby Malinga. Tushar Deshpande, who had a good last season. It feels good to work with these guys, and looking forward to the upcoming season, Bravo added.
Bravo also backed opener Ruturaj Gaikwad to come good for CSK this season. Gaikwad, for sure. He’s one of my favorites, Bravo concluded. CSK will enter the tournament as defending champions having beaten Gujarat Titans (GT) in a nail-biting thriller last year. The Dhoni-led yellow army will open their 2024 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday, March 22 at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
