Sehwag demands a fine farewell for Rahul Dravid from Team India

Virender Sehwag had nothing but appreciation for skipper Rohit Sharma after India thrashed Australia in the final Super 8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on Monday. Rohit rediscovered his top form in the rematch of India’s 2023 World Cup final against Australia at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium. With rampaging Rohit leading Team India to another ICC T20 World Cup semi-final, former Indian opener Sehwag has made a special request of the Men in Blue’s talismanic batter.

Sehwag wants Rohit and his teammates to win the T20 World Cup trophy for outgoing coach Rahul Dravid. The T20 World Cup will be Dravid’s final task as head coach of the 2007 World Champions. We played the 2011 World Cup for Sachin Tendulkar. So, this T20 World Cup can be for Rahul Dravid. At least as a coach, he gets to win the World Cup and get the badge of being a World Cup winner, which he didn’t get as a player, Sehwag said.

The 37-year-old shattered a plethora of records with his impressive knock against the former champions. Reflecting on Rohit’s valiant knock, Sehwag stated that he only anticipated the India opener to stay at the crease for the powerplay. I have never seen better entertainment than this in this World Cup. I was expecting that Rohit would be at the crease for just the first six overs, he added.

But he batted even after the powerplay, and look what he did. He made our hearts happy, what more do you want, Sehwag concluded. India will take on England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup on June 27, Thursday.
