Team India experienced a horror loss against the West Indies in the series decider a fortnight before the start of the 2023 Asia Cup. Indian cricket fans are apprehensive about the Indian team’s condition, which had previously survived a similar fate in an ODI match in the Caribbean Island. However, India head coach Rahul Dravid has dropped stunning news for the fans ahead of the Asia Cup and World Cup.
The middle-order batting has been one of the major concerns for the Indian ODI team. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya have struggled in the absence of injured talents Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, with the management seemingly perplexed over the line-up after their trials in the West Indies battle yielded no fruit.
But Dravid revealed that both the star batters Iyer and Rahul are set for a comeback in the Asia Cup. We have a few guys coming back from injury so we first have to give them opportunities to play. To be really honest, I haven’t given a thought about Asia Cup at this stage, the batting legend said.
We have some time off and then will have a camp at the NCA in Bengaluru from August 23. We will be assembling as a one-day team there to prepare for the Asia Cup. We will take it as it comes, he added. India will open their Asia Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2 in Pallekel before playing Nepal on September 4 as part of their group stage matches.
