Gujarat Titans (GT) exhibited a clinical performance with both bat and ball to outclass Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 7 wickets in front of their home crowd at Narendra Modi Stadium. GT batters batted beautifully and scored runs at a good rate in their chase of 163. A 64-run partnership between Sai Sudharsan (45) and David Miller handed GT a comfortable win. Miller played an excellent knock and remained unbeaten on 44 while Vijay Shankar chipped in with an unbeaten 14.
Batting first, SRH had a decent start as Mayank Agarwal and Travis Head added 34 runs in 4 overs. Azmatullah Omarzai produced a breakthrough in the 5th over, dismissing Agarwal, who scored run-a-ball 16. Very shortly, Noor Ahmad cleaned up power-hitting Head (19). Abhishek Sharma, who hit the fastest fifty for SRH in the previous game, departed after scoring 29.
Rashid Khan then bowled out the most dangerous batter Heinrich Klaasen (24), who can turn the match upside down. Aiden Markram and Shahbaz Ahmed chipped in with 17 and 22 respectively. Abdul Samad’s cameo of 14-ball 29 helped SRH to reach a defendable 162/8 in 20 overs. Mohit Sharma starred with a three-wicket haul. The right-arm pacer produced a brilliant effort, using his variations at the right time to get the wickets.
Wriddhiman Saha’s quick-fire 25 gave a good start to GT’s chase. GT skipper Shubman Gill alongside Sudharsan looked to steady their innings, adding 38 runs. Gill batted well for his 36. It was Miller’s attacking batting that took the Titans to a convincing win.
