A swashbuckling innings from Quinton de Kock and a scorching spell from young pacer Mayank Yadav ensured that Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) got the better of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. LSG registered their second win of the tournament with a 28-run triumph over RCB. Despite a strong start to their chase from Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, RCB fell victim to the fiery pacer Mayank and an all-round performance from the other players, who helped the side clinch a commanding win.

De Kock and LSG skipper RL Rahul gave their side a stormy start, adding 53 runs in 5.2 overs. RCB captain Du Plessis brought Glenn Maxwell into the attack to get a breakthrough and Maxwell produced the same by dismissing Rahul (20). Devdutt Padikkal, who is struggling to find his form and score good runs, departed cheaply. De Kock alongside Marcus Stoinis (24) added 56 runs for the third wicket.

RCB could have been in the game, only if they were a bit better on the field. RCB dropped two huge catches, one for De Kock and the other for Nicholas Pooran. The South African opener used that chance well and played an excellent knock of 81. Pooran took the game away from RCB in the death overs, smashing five sixes, one went for 106 meters distance and out of the stadium. Pooran’s unbeaten 40-run cameo powered LSG to 181/5.

Kohli and Du Plessis added 40 runs in 4 overs to lay down a solid platform for RCB’s chase, but no one could really build on the good work. Siddharth dismissed Kohli for 22 while Padikkal produced a brilliant direct hit to send off Du Plessis (19). Mayank then dismissed Maxwell for a duck and in his next over, the right-arm pacer bowled an absolute ripper, rattling the stumps to remove Cameron Green. RCB kept losing wickets regularly and eventually, lost the game.
