India crushed West Indies in a high-scoring match to clinch the series 2-1

India exhibited a dominating show with both bat and ball to thrash West Indies by 200 runs in the series decider on Tuesday. Men in Blue continued their dominance over the Windies by winning the 16th consecutive bilateral series. Chasing a big target of 351, the Windies’ batters never found themselves in a good position as Indian bowlers troubled them right from the start and took wickets regularly to bowl them out for 151. While Shardul Thakur starred with a four-wicket haul Mukesh Kumar bagged three.

The hosts’ decision to bowl first backfired as Indian openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill gave an excellent start to their side, adding 143 runs for the opening wicket. Ishan (77) departed after scoring his third consecutive half-century in the series. Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to make an impact as Alzarri Joseph dismissed him for just 8.

Sanju Samson utilized the given chance well and scored quick runs at a strike rate of 124. He alongside Gill added 69 runs for the third wicket before Romario Shepherd bagged him (51). While Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with 35 Hardik Pandya played the captain’s knock-off unbeaten 70 and helped his side to a huge total of 351/5 in 50 overs.

The Windies’ chase got off to a bad start as Mukesh dismissed both openers Brandon King (0) and Kyle Mayers (4) in successive overs. Mukesh then pushed the hosts into the groove by removing Shai Hope (5). West Indies’ batters never found their momentum as Indian bowlers kept taking wickets. While Alick Athanaze scored a decent 32 Joseph and Gudakesh Motie gave a fight toward the end by scoring 26 and 39 respectively. But India had the upper hand and registered a dominating win.
