Gujarat Titans produced an all-round performance to beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets

Gujarat Titans registered a stunning victory over Punjab Kings in yet another last-over thriller in Mohali. Chasing 154, Shubman Gill played a masterful inning of 67 off 49 balls. Needing 3 runs to win from 2 balls Rahul Tewatia kept his calm and hit a four to get the Titans over the line. Earlier, GT pacer Mohit Sharma marked his return to the IPL with excellent figures of 2/18.

The hosts had a poor start as they lost both the openers inside four overs. Mohammed Shami dismissed Prabhsimran Singh for a duck while Joshua Little removed the Orange Cap holder Shikhar Dhawan for 8. The Punjab Kings captain failed to make a good impact with his willow this time. The only batter who managed to find any consistent flow with the bat was Matthew Short, playing a top-scoring knock of 36.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa (20) was not able to deliver his natural game and struggled a lot to score runs. Jitesh Sharma played a handy knock of 25 while Sam Curran chipped in with 22. Shahrukh Khan played a brilliant cameo of 22 off 9 balls and helped his side to reach a respectable total of 153/8.

GT’s chase got off to a good start as Wriddhiman Saha and Gill added 48 runs in 4.3 overs. Kagiso Rabada dismissed Saha (30) to record his 100th wicket in IPL. Punjab bowlers gave a good fight, taking wickets at regular intervals and not conceding easy runs. Sai Sudharsan and David Miller contributed useful 19 and 17 respectively. But it was Tewatia who remained as cool as a cucumber to seal the game for GT.
