Delhi Capitals bowlers produced a brilliant effort to successfully defend a low total against SRH

A brilliant combined bowling display from Delhi Capitals (DC) bowlers helped their side outfox Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 7 runs on Monday. Chasing a target of 145 runs, the hosts managed to reach 137/6 in 20 overs, despite a decent knock from Mayank Agarwal (49). Impact Player Mukesh Kumar successfully defended 12 runs in the final over, registering DC’s second win of the season. Earlier, Anrich Nortje and Axar Patel scalped two wickets each for DC.

Deciding to bat first, DC changed their opening combination to see some good results but it did not work as Phil Salt walked back early for a golden duck. David Warner and Mitchell Marsh scored quick runs by playing a counter-attacking game. However, SRH took a review to overturn the decision and got the wicket of Marsh (25). Washington Sundar then got the big fish Warner for 21.

DC’s scoring rate decreased as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. But the visitors reached a decent 144/9 in 20 overs, courtesy of a late fightback from Manish Pandey (34) and Axar Patel (34). For SRH, Sundar picked up three wickets while Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged two.

SRH’s chase got off to a quick start as Agarwal hit boundaries with some elegant shots. But Nortje produced a twist by cleaning up Harry Brook (7) when he tried to play a cheeky reverse shot. Rahul Tripathi chipped in with 15 while other batters went back cheaply. Heinrich Klaasen gave the home crowd some hope by playing a cameo of 19-ball 31 but lost his wicket in the penultimate over. Sundar who scored a crucial 24* was not a good finisher to take SRH home.
