Ace Spinner Ashwin shares about Team India’s preparation for West Indies Tests

Team India is all set to start afresh in the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle when it takes on the West Indies in the two-match Test series. The first Test is scheduled to start from July 12, Wednesday in Dominica and the Indian team has already landed in the Caribbean islands. Rohit Sharma-led side will look to win the series 2-0 and dedicate the victory to the Indian fans as they experienced a humiliating defeat in the WTC final against Australia.

The No.1 Test bowler in the ICC rankings, Ravichandran Ashwin talked to the fans about Team India’s preparations for the West Indies tour. Ashwin also explained why the team arrived in Barbados instead of Dominica. In fact, I was supposed to play 6-7 games in the TNPL but had to cut short and reach here after playing four games, the off-spinner expressed.

We have already reached the West Indies shores. We have a 10-day window to get rid of the jetlag and start our practice. Our current coach Rahul Bhai always lays more emphasis on a lot on preparation. Our preparation is the process. If we can take care of the preparation, the rest will take care of itself. So, that is the thought process. So, we’ve come really ahead for the preparation, the senior all-rounder said.

We have come to Barbados. Why have we come here? Because we have our preparation camp here and will also have a two-day match here before heading to Dominica for the first Test, the ace spinner concluded. One of the two young batters either Yashasvi Jaiswal or Ruturaj Gaikwad is expected to don their maiden Test cap.
