Team India showcased a prowess batting performance to beat England by 5 wickets on Day 4 of an enthralling Test match. With a comprehensive win in Ranchi, Rohit Sharma-led men have taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match Test series. India recorded its 17th consecutive Test series win at home, the longest streak that began by defeating Australia in 2013. India will look to extend their dominance and finish the series 4-1 while England will be eager to salvage a win in the final test, starting on March 7, Thursday at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.

Chasing 192, the hosts slipped from 84/1 to 120/5 on a challenging pitch before Shubman Gill (52*) and Dhruv Jurel (39*) guided them over the line with an unbeaten partnership of 72 runs for the sixth wicket. The moment Jurel took the winning double, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid stood up in the dressing room, all pumped up. And then proceeded to greet the two youngsters who showed immense maturity to guide India out of trouble.

Earlier, India resumed their chase at 40/0 and at one stage, the crowd felt that India would easily win the game with skipper Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal (37) scoring at a quick pace. The opening pair added 84 runs before Joe Root struck to give England a crucial breakthrough. Rohit batted well for his 55 before falling to Tom Hartley.

England’s young spinner Shoaib Bashir then gave India a mighty scare by dismissing Rajat Patidar for a duck before accounting for Ravindra Jadeja and Sarfaraz Khan in consecutive deliveries after the lunch break. However, Gill and Jurel showed excellent composure and calmness in their batting and took India home with ease. Jurel was honored with the Player of the Match award for his heroics with the bat.
