Team India is aiming to register a fourth-straight win in the ongoing World Cup tournament when they take on Bangladesh in today’s (October 19) clash at MCA Stadium in Pune. Bangladesh, on the other hand, kicked off their campaign with a win but lost their last two games. India and Bangladesh have met four times in ODI World Cups, with India winning three. Bangladesh’s only victory over India occurred in the 2007 World Cup. Bangladesh has won three of the last four ODIs against India, including an Asia Cup Super-Four clash last month.

The Indian team management has kept several match-winners out of India’s perfect XI. Former BCCI selector MSK Prasad has explained when India might choose to include match-hungry Shami in its World Cup playing XI. They are using horses for courses, which is working quite well for the team. As you can see, Ashwin was employed in Chennai and Shardul in the other two games (in Delhi and Ahmedabad). Shardul was not needed in the previous game and he bowled only two overs as other bowlers completed the job, Prasad expressed.

Shami will come into the picture if they want to rotate Siraj. Shami bagged a match-winning five-wicket haul against Australia in the first ODI before the 2023 World Cup. Replacements are very clear right now, Suryakumar Yadav will replace Shreyas Iyer if there is a need, Ishan Kishan will replace Shubman Gill at the top and Shardul will play if it is a flat deck. Ravichandran Ashwin will come in his place if it is a turning track, Prasad added.
