KL Rahul and Jadeja ruled out of the Second Test, Sarfaraz earned his maiden call-up

Indian cricket team has dealt with a huge blow as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have been ruled out of the Second Test due to injuries. A statement from the BCCI revealed that Rahul complained of right quadriceps pain while Jadeja suffered a hamstring injury on the fourth day of the first Test. The absence of the wicketkeeper-batter Rahul and all-rounder Jadeja, who delivered a brilliant performance in the first Test, will increase Team India’s problems against England. The Rohit Sharma-led side is already fumbling without veteran batter Virat Kohli and senior pacer Mohammed Shami.

The BCCI’s selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, has made significant changes to the roster for the second Test, adding three players, two of whom may make their debut for India in the upcoming match, which will start on February 2, Friday in Visakhapatnam. Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar are the three players added to the Indian squad.

The announcement ended Sarfaraz’s long wait for his first India call-up. The batter, who has been constantly knocking on the selectors’ doors, put on an impressive performance for India A against the England Lions in the four-day unofficial Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The right-handed batter won the Player of the Match award for his blistering knock of 161 runs in 160 balls, smashing 18 fours and 5 sixes. The 26-year-old player currently averages 69.85 with 14 centuries in 45 first-class cricket games. Saurabh joins the India squad after a standout performance against the England Lions earlier this week. The left-arm orthodox bowler took five wickets in the second innings and helped for India A’s victory.
