A statement from the BCCI revealed that Rahul complained of right quadriceps pain while Jadeja suffered a hamstring injury on the fourth day of the first Test. The absence of the wicketkeeper-batter Rahul and all-rounder Jadeja, who delivered a brilliant performance in the first Test, will increase Team India’s problems against England. The Rohit Sharma-led side is already fumbling without veteran batter Virat Kohli and senior pacer Mohammed Shami.

The BCCI’s selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, has made significant changes to the roster for the second Test, adding three players, two of whom may make their debut for India in the upcoming match, which will start on February 2, Friday in Visakhapatnam. Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar are the three players added to the Indian squad.
