Chennai Super Kings look to end Mumbai Indians’ two-match winning streak in their backyard

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Chepauk on May 6 (Saturday). CSK placed third with 11 points, will look to end MI’s two-match winning streak and place themselves in a strong position in the IPL playoffs race. On the other hand, MI who have won their last two matches by chasing a 200+ target, will look to continue their winning run. MS Dhoni-led men will aim to deliver well and gift their Yellow Army a win as CSK have lost two of their 4 matches at home in this IPL.

Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been very solid as an opening pair for CSK. But the batters lower down the order have struggled to score runs consistently.

Conway has scored 5 half-centuries in his last 6 innings and will be the most important cog in the CSK batting line-up. The likes of Shivam Dube, Ajinkya Rahane, and Mooen Ali will need to step up and maintain the scoring rate during the middle overs. CSK have a lot of depth in their batting and if Ravindra Jadeja finds his form with the bat, then it would add more strength. Captain Cool Dhoni is doing his finisher role perfectly.

CSK will need to work more and concentrate on their bowling, especially at the death. Though Tushar Deshpande is the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament, he has gone for more runs. Matheesha Pathirana is doing a wonderful job with his bowling and is expected to pick up more wickets. CSK’s spin trio Maheesh Theekshana, Jadeja, and Moeen should avoid leaking runs by bowling tight lines.

MI players are with plenty of confidence as they have won 4 of their last 6 matches. MI’s big concern is the form of their captain Rohit Sharma as he is struggling to score runs at the top. Ishan Kishan had played well in the last few matches. Cameron Green and Tilak Varma have been consistent performers in the middle order. MI’s huge boost is Suryakumar Yadav returning to form and he has scored 3 half-centuries in his past 4 outings. Just like their opponents, MI too will need to work on their bowling.

The team has given away more than 200 runs in each of its last 4 matches. Piyush Chawla has been the pick of the bowlers. The team lacks another quality spinner to support him, while the seamers, including Jofra Archer, Green, and Arshad Khan have gone for over 10 runs per over.

This match is going to be a treat for the fans as both teams have a lot of power in their batting lineup.
