Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacers produced an excellent effort to make an incredible turnaround, snatching a 1-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) from the jaws of defeat. With 13 runs to defend, Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered a brilliant final over, dismissing Rovman Powell (27) in the final ball to secure a crucial win for SRH. RR stayed in the hunt with valiant knocks from Yashasvi Jaiswal (67) and Riyan Parag (77), but quick wickets towards the end turned things around completely.
Earlier, SRH made a decent start to their innings, scoring 25 runs in 4 overs. RR pacer Avesh Khan drew the first blood by dismissing Abhishek Sharma (12). In the next over, Sandeep Sharma removed impact player Anmolpreet Singh for just 5, giving a double blow for the home side. However, Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy produced superb batting performances to add 96 runs for the third wicket.
Both batters went on to hit their half-centuries before Avesh cleaned up Head (58) to RR a much-needed breakthrough. Reddy remained unbeaten on 76 while Heinrich Klaasen’s blistering cameo 19-ball 42 guided SRH to reach 201/3 in 20 overs.
The home crowd witnessed vintage Bhuvneshwar as the right-arm pacer dismissed Jos Butler in the second ball of the innings and then bowled an absolute ripper to bowl out RR captain Sanju Samson for a duck. But Jaiswal and Parag’s 134-run partnership helped RR to stay ahead of SRH. Natarajan initiated the turnaround by cleaning up Jaiswal. From thereon, SRH bowlers tightened the screws, picking up quick wickets, and securing a memorable win.
