Abu Dhabi: A valiant knock of 99 by Mushfiqur Rahim saw Bangladesh produce an all-round effort that stunned Pakistan who lost by a margin of 37 runs, this effort of beating Pakistan in the Super Four match paved the way for them to the final clash with India.
While Mohammad Mithun made 60 and Mushfiqur carved out his 30th half-century lifted Bangladesh to a total of 239.
Though Mushafiqur was not luck enough to notch up his seventh ODI he however helped rescue Bangladesh with a 144 run stand for the fourth wicket with Mithun, from a position of being 12 for three in under five overs.
While the effort of Imam-ul-Haq who scored 83 did not turn out to create much of an effort for Pakistan who were restricted to 202 for nine wickets.
It will now be a match between India and Bangladesh to be played out in Dubai on Friday.
Pakistan’s chase to beat Bangladesh too faltered in the early stages of the game when they too were put in a precarious position of losing three wickets for a total of 18 runs in 3.3 overs.
Imam was the lone batsman who could stand up to Bangladesh whilst putting up two crucial partnerships with Shoib Malik (30) and Asif Ali (31) to keep the hopes of Pakistani fans alive.
Not giving up hope saved the day for Bangladesh as they fought to defeat Pakistan ball by ball.
Bangladesh frustrated Pakistan’s valiant efforts for a fightback.
Junaid Khan, who’s trying to make a comeback produced an impressive bowling figure of four for 19 from nine overs.
